All About Nova: Graduation Reminders

Dear Villanova HRD Graduates,

As May 2016 Commencement rapidly approaches, we want to make sure you have all the information you need regarding the weekend events.  Listed below are a description and timeline of Commencement activities.  You are welcome to all events listed below and are highly encouraged to attend the HRD Graduation Reception and Graduate Studies Convocation on Saturday (details below).


University Commencement Ceremony

(Individual graduate names are not announced during this ceremony) 

Friday, May 13, 2016 

4:00 p.m.

Villanova Stadium

Graduates report to the Pavilion no later than 3:15 p.m.

Please review ticket and seating policy in the Commencement Booklet 

HRD Graduation Reception

Saturday, May 14th

11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Café Nova, Dougherty Hall

Hosted by the Graduate Programs in HRD for online and on-campus students, all May 2016, September 2015, and December 2015 graduates and guests are invited to the HRD Graduation Reception.  A light lunch will be provided. 

Please R.S.V.P. to by April 15, 2016, and include the number in your party (limited to graduate + 3 guests) that will be attending the HRD Graduation Reception.  In the subject line of your response email, please put “RSVP HRD RECEPTION.”

The Convocation Ceremony is dedicated solely to students receiving their master’s or doctoral degree in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.  This ceremony is exclusive to graduate students and their guests.  If choosing between one of the two events (Friday vs. Saturday), you should plan on attending this ceremony.  All graduates will have their names called and participate in a procession at this ceremony.  Diplomas are distributed after the ceremony.  Graduate Assistants will be available to lead you and your guests to the Convocation Ceremony.


Academic Regalia

There are two options for Master students to obtain their cap, gown, hood and tassel.

OPTION 1: Ship your regalia to your home address by ordering through this link:

There is no charge for the cap, gown and hood.  Master students can order their academic regalia online using this convenient form and have it shipped to their home address for a shipping fee of $15.95.  Last day to order your academic attire online for shipping is Thursday, April 14, 2016.  If you choose this option, and are planning on attending the University Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 13, you will need to email to receive your two tickets to the event. Please include Banner ID and address in the email.


OPTION 2: Pick up your regalia at the Jake Nevin Fieldhouse during the Graduation Fair in May

There is no fee for this option.  The Graduation Fair takes place on one of the following dates and times:

Tuesday, May 10 from 10am-7pm

Wednesday, May 11 from 10am- 2pm

Thursday, May 12 from 10am-7pm
